Make the Best Use of Your Talent & Showcase Your Talent Here!

Our talents are our natural abilities or exceptional abilities to do some things, with little or no training, these are sometimes, activities which we take little or no significance of and usually not obliged to take seriously.

For the purpose of this article, I will like to distinguish between a talent and a hobby. A talent usually, is an activity that requires some skills, whereas hobby does not require much skill. For instance, it could be my hobby to like clubbing every night; this certainly is not a talent. However, I might decide to make writing good poems my hobby, which definitely, is also a talent because one needs know-how to write poems.

There is no hard and fast rule in becoming an expert in those activities that we have learned to do either by natural flair, through a bit of training or self development other than make it part of us, by doing it time and again.

There is no doubt that constant practice is a key to success in any skill that we aim to perfect, even in those endeavors that we have actually undergone years of training.

As earlier mentioned, self development is the personal zeal and efforts at training ourselves or our pursuit to attain perfection or an ambition of becoming an expert, renowned or well informed in a field or subject matter. It is only through self development that we can get the best out of our skills and talents.

At times of economic hardship, people find it very useful to be able to diversify their skills or become multi talented, so as to make ends meet. Also by developing our talents it keeps peoples' minds off those other activities that may otherwise not be as profitable, beneficial or advantageous as our specific talents.

I am quick to note that to develop one's talent, it might require some support and encouragement at some point, to be able to achieve greater heights or even making dreams come through but sometimes this support or encouragement is never available.  In situations where we are unable to find any help at developing our talents, the normal practice should be ''never give up". Continued resilience towards giving up is what makes the difference between the gifted and the opportunist.

We may also like to note that adequate support or encouragement at building our potentials is not a principal factor for success. However, our commitment to making the best use of the support that may we get is crucial.

Here are some ways to maximize the potentials of our talents.

Offering free services:
This can be a great way of promoting our talents as well as getting to know how well we have been able to develop our skills because offering free services will ultimately be a way to create our imprints and build an impression of what we can do.

Comparing your outputs:
When we compare notes, works or our inventions etc., it should not be with a mind to compete but rather to observe and take heed as to our strengths and weaknesses. This helps us know where and how to make corrections and improvements because at every stage of our development, we should always aspire for improvements.

Showcase your works:
When we show case our works or inventions or any other talent at that, it helps us rate our popularity and the popularity of our talent/works alongside other people. This is a very good avenue to decide how well we want to develop our talent and casting our minds towards a goal.

We are looking to feature talented, disabled people in our blog. Contact me if you want to be considered!

Join forums/societies of like minds:
Becoming part of a group or an association of like minds, will help broaden our scope on the talent we aim to develop. It will also be a market place of ideas. Join our Facebook Group!

Present your works for critics/appraisals:
This usually helps to tell the effectiveness and relevance of what we have presented in a related circumstance. Appraisals are very good ways of knowing how well we have achieved our goals and help to shape our future steps at reaching our objectives.
